Public Health Area I
Project Name: Love Thy SELF (Student Education on Life Facts)
Public Health Area I's goal for this project is to reduce the rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among youth in Colbert, Lauderdale, and Franklin Counties. Through APREP funding, the project will provide programming to high risk youth between the ages of 13 and 19 in Colbert and Franklin Counties and foster care youth in Lauderdale County. This ten session program includes an evidence-based curriculum, Making Proud Choices!, and selected lessons from Love Notes, a healthy relationship curriculum. Public Health Area I also provides Seventeen Days, an interactive film aimed at reducing negative outcomes associated with risky sexual behavior. Partner agencies include, but are not limited to, Franklin and Lauderdale County Departments of Human Resources, foster care group homes, Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Center, FAME Sheriff's Ranch, and alternative school programs.
