Project Name: G.R.E.A.T. (Getting Real Explanations Appropriate for Today) TEENS
The 100 Black Men of Montgomery's goals for this project are to reduce sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and teen pregnancies, especially among African-American youth between the ages of 13 and 19 in Montgomery County, Alabama. Through APREP funding, the organization will provide classroom programming, utilizing Love Notes and Making Proud Choices! curricula, for a total of 10 sessions. These sessions will be conducted through partnerships with community-based organizations such as Upward Bound, local colleges and universities, faith based organizations, and after school programs. The classroom programming is delivered in the context of an ongoing mentoring relationship with youth participants.
The 100 Black Men of Greater Montgomery Area is a civic organization whose goal is to educate and empower youth, adults, and families. Our mission is to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all Americans.
