Project Description

Crittenton Youth Services (CYS) provides teen pregnancy prevention activities in Mobile County Public School classrooms, summer youth-serving programs, and parent workshops. Instruction is provided by CYS health instructors and 22 ambassadors (high school seniors from various Mobile County Public Schools). The health instructors and ambassadors implement Managing Pressures before Marriage for Preteens to over 4,000 seventh graders. Additionally, Relationship Smarts Plus and sexually transmitted disease information will be taught to around 1,400 ninth graders. Media Madness and sexually transmitted infection (STI) programming will be provided as outreach activities in community-based settings, particularly in summer months. Parents are included in the prevention process through weekly workshops.
