Act 2007-565 of the Alabama Legislature established the Legislative Task Force on Morbid Obesity. This task force reviewed the costs related to surgery.

2006 Legislative Task Force on Obesity

Created through House Joint Resolution HJR40, Act No. 2005-257, the Legislative Task Force on Obesity was charged to study the various solutions available to address the impact of obesity. Recommendations within the report have been grouped into three areas: medical interventions, state legislative or policy involvement, and population incentives. The report also includes concerns and issues that the Task Force discussed, but ultimately did not include among the recommendations.
