Changes in Immunization Requirements
A new immunization requirement has been issued for Alabama sixth graders. Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, a dose of Tdap vaccine will be required for Alabama students 11 or 12 years old entering sixth grade. This requirement will escalate by one successive grade each year, for the following six years, to include sixth through twelfth grades, beginning fall of 2016. You can help minimize
the rush by encouraging vaccination well before the school requirement takes effect.
Pool Rules Revised
Significant revisions were made to the rules governing the construction, equipment, and
operation of public pools and spas and went into effect October 2009.
2013 National Men's Health Month
June is National Men's Health Month and Men's Health Week will be celebrated June 10-16. The purpose of Men's Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This month gives health care providers, public policy makers, the media and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury. We encourage all men to step up to the challenge and be positive role models in their own families and communities by setting the example of eating right, exercising regularly, and routinely getting medical checkup. Baldwin County will be celebrating a "Wear Blue Day" on June 14 to help spread the word about Men's Health Month. Please join us and wear blue on June 14, 2013.
