This program, "Alabama Newborn Screening Program - Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI)", discusses how the Alabama Newborn Screening Program currently tests for 30 primary disorders, with hearing loss being the most prevalent. This program explains what is done to detect hearing loss among newborns. Program faculty also discuss the ADPH Care Coordination Protocol related to newborn hearing referrals, along with the significant changes made to the “Report to Referring Provider” section in the ACORN documentation system.

This program, "Antimicrobial Stewardship: Its Significance and Impact", discusses that antibiotic therapy is very important for the treatment of a vast array of infectious diseases. However, over prescribing antibiotics poses a serious public health crisis as the instances of antibiotic resistance rise. This program explores antimicrobial stewardship and its impact in the fight against antibiotic resistance. Guidelines and polices, practical steps for developing, as well as benefits of a stewardship program are reviewed. Program faculty also review CDC guidelines for infection prevention in outpatient settings.

Among those are depression, anxiety and substance abuse. This program gives an overview of the adolescent brain, signs and symptoms of bullying behavior (including cyber-bullying), and signs and symptoms of victims. Program faculty will also discuss how drugs play a role in this devastating adolescent behavior.
