The Center for Emergency Preparedness (CEP) coordinates Alabama's health, medical, and social services in the event of public health threats and emergencies. Under the state Emergency Operations Plan, Emergency Support Function (ESF) 8 includes all medical aspects of an emergency response.

ADPH is the lead agency in ESF 8 and the support agency for healthcare organizations that provide direct patient care in an emergency response. Each of the 11 public health areas has an Emergency Preparedness team devoted to preparedness planning. Team members include some combination of the following roles:

  • Emergency Preparedness Coordinator
  • Disease Intervention Director
  • Senior Environmentalist
  • Surveillance Nurse
  • Administrative Support Assistant
  • Social Worker

Request for Proposal

The Center for Emergency Preparedness would like to announce a request for proposals (RFP) designed to enhance the department's respirator program through physician clearance for respirator use. Please note, the RFP was originally posted on 10/26/2015, on the State Comptrollerís website under RFP number 2016-11-04 (ADPH RFP number 2015-012).  The RFP was amended on October 30, 2015, with changes indicated by bold font and upper case letters.  The amended RFP can be found on the RFP Database on the State Comptrollerís website under a new number or at the link below.  Please click on the links for more information. Proposals must be received in the Center for Emergency Preparedness by close of business December 1, 2015, (5:00 CDT).
