Program Overview
Though viral hemorrhagic fevers such as Ebola have been described for a number of years, the recent outbreak of Ebola in West Africa represents the largest outbreak in history. The CDC confirmed on September 30, 2014, through laboratory tests, the first case of Ebola to be diagnosed in the United States in a person who had traveled to Dallas, Texas from West Africa. Even a single case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States raises concerns, and it is possible that additional people traveling from a country affected by Ebola could enter the United States with Ebola. Program faculty will provide important information for health care providers, helping them prepare to evaluate, diagnose and manage potential Ebola patients.
